Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across central Kentucky and the Bluegrass

Air Duct Cleaning

Air duct cleaning is the removal of dust, construction debris and settled dirt from the supply and return ducts that carry heated and cooled air through your house. Homeowners across Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia and Georgia call us for it after a remodel, after rodents have been in a crawlspace, or when the registers blow visible dust every time the system starts. Call us and describe what you are seeing. We will look at the duct layout first and tell you honestly whether cleaning is the right fix.

What the job involves

We start at the air handler or furnace and work outward. Registers and grilles come off, then we run a vacuum with a sealed collection unit on the trunk line while agitating each branch so the loosened dust travels toward the vacuum instead of into your living room. Return ducts usually hold the most, since that is the side pulling air off the floor. We put the covers back, replace the filter and run the system so you can hear and feel the difference at each vent.

What we check while we are in there

With the registers off we can see things a homeowner never gets to see. We look for disconnected joints in crawlspaces, flex duct that has collapsed or kinked, insulation pulled loose, and moisture staining that points to a bigger problem. In older farmhouses where ductwork was added long after the house was built, we often find runs that were never sealed at the boot. We photograph what we find and walk you through it. Sealing a loose joint frequently does more for airflow than cleaning alone.

How we decide it is the right call

We do not clean ducts just because a system is old. Cleaning makes sense when there is visible debris at the registers, after drywall or sanding work, following rodent or water intrusion, or when a duct was left open during construction. If your real complaint is a dusty house or uneven temperatures, the cause is more often a leaking return, an undersized filter or a duct run in an unconditioned attic. We will say so rather than sell you a cleaning that changes nothing.

Air Duct Cleaning — quick answers

How often should air ducts be cleaned?

There is no set schedule. Most houses need it only when something happens, like a remodel, water damage or animals in the ductwork. We would rather inspect and tell you it can wait.

Will duct cleaning help my allergies?

It can reduce the dust load if there is visible debris in the ducts. Often the bigger factor is filtration and sealing leaks that pull dirty crawlspace air into the return side.

Do you clean the blower and coil too?

We check them. A dirty blower wheel or coil restricts airflow more than dusty duct walls, so cleaning ducts while ignoring the equipment leaves the real restriction in place.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail tells us what parts to bring along.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow and the equipment itself before we quote anything. If the problem sits in the ductwork rather than the unit, we say so plainly.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and explain

Most air conditioning repair and heating repair work finishes in one visit. We show you the failed part, explain what caused it, and tell you what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • Propane and dual fuelPlenty of homes in our service area run propane heat or a dual fuel setup with a heat pump. We know how those systems switch over and why a bad changeover setting can leave you cold and burning fuel.
  • Older houses, added ductworkFarmhouses often got ducts decades after they were built, run through crawl spaces and attics. When the equipment tests fine but rooms still fight each other, we look at the duct runs and static pressure.
  • Repair before replacementA failed capacitor, a cracked wire, a clogged drain or a bad control board is a repair, not a new system. We tell you when the equipment is genuinely finished and when it is not.
  • Plain talk on the phoneWe ask what the thermostat reads, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and when it last worked normally. That two minute conversation often shortens the visit and keeps the repair cost down.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
