The indoor air quality symptoms we hear most
- Dust settles back on the furniture the same day I clean Filtration bypass, leaky return ductwork or undersized filter media
- Everybody wakes up with a dry throat and bloody noses all winter Low humidity, failed humidifier pad or solenoid valve
- The basement smells damp and the windows sweat in summer High humidity load, dehumidifier drain or control failure
- Allergies are worse indoors than outside Loaded purifier media, poor air changes or contaminated coil and blower
- There is a musty smell every time the system kicks on Wet coil, dirty drain pan or a UV lamp past its service life
People call this indoor air quality work or air purifier installation. Same visit, same written quote, same technician.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Change your air filter and check that it is the right size and seated flat with no gaps around the frame.
- 2Walk the house and confirm supply vents and return grilles are open and not blocked by rugs or furniture.
- 3Check the thermostat settings and batteries, including any humidity or fan settings that may have been changed.
- 4Look for a tripped breaker at the panel if a purifier, dehumidifier or ventilator has stopped running entirely.

What does a whole-home air purifier actually do?
It treats the air moving through your ductwork instead of one room at a time. Depending on the type it captures fine particles, reduces odors or handles biological growth. We size it to your blower so airflow stays where the system needs it.
Do I need a humidifier if I already have a furnace?
Many homes do, especially older farmhouses that dry out hard in winter. If your skin cracks, floors gap and static shocks are constant, a whole-home humidifier tied into the ductwork holds a steadier level than portable units can.
When should I think about a dehumidifier instead?
When the house feels clammy even with the AC running, or the basement stays damp through summer. A whole-home dehumidifier pulls moisture without overcooling the house, which is common in homes where the cooling system short cycles.
How often do UV lamps need replacing?
Most lamps lose output after about a year even though they still glow. We check them during service and let you know when replacement is due. A spent lamp does nothing for coil cleanliness, so the timing matters.
Will better filtration hurt my airflow?
It can if the filter is too restrictive for the system. That is why we look at the return duct and blower before recommending anything. The goal is cleaner air with the airflow your equipment was built to move.
My house is older with ductwork added later. Does IAQ equipment still work?
Usually yes, though we may need to check duct sizing and sealing first. Leaky returns pulling from a crawlspace or attic undo a lot of good filtration. We tell you what we find before we quote anything.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail tells us what parts to bring along.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow and the equipment itself before we quote anything. If the problem sits in the ductwork rather than the unit, we say so plainly.
- Step 3
We repair and explain
Most air conditioning repair and heating repair work finishes in one visit. We show you the failed part, explain what caused it, and tell you what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us
- Propane and dual fuelPlenty of homes in our service area run propane heat or a dual fuel setup with a heat pump. We know how those systems switch over and why a bad changeover setting can leave you cold and burning fuel.
- Older houses, added ductworkFarmhouses often got ducts decades after they were built, run through crawl spaces and attics. When the equipment tests fine but rooms still fight each other, we look at the duct runs and static pressure.
- Repair before replacementA failed capacitor, a cracked wire, a clogged drain or a bad control board is a repair, not a new system. We tell you when the equipment is genuinely finished and when it is not.
- Plain talk on the phoneWe ask what the thermostat reads, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and when it last worked normally. That two minute conversation often shortens the visit and keeps the repair cost down.
- All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
