Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across central Kentucky and the Bluegrass

Smart Thermostat Installation

We install smart thermostats on residential heating and cooling systems across Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia, including propane furnaces, heat pumps and dual-fuel setups. Homeowners usually call when a new thermostat will not hold a schedule, the screen stays blank, or the wiring in an older farmhouse does not match what the box expects. Give us a call and tell us what equipment you have and which thermostat you bought or want, and we will sort out the wiring and the setup on site.

What the job involves

We start at the equipment, not the wall. Your furnace, air handler or heat pump decides how many wires the thermostat needs and whether it has a common wire for steady power. We shut power down, pull the old thermostat, label the existing conductors and check what is actually run through the wall. If a common wire is missing we work out the options, mount the new base level, connect it, then power up and confirm heating, cooling and fan all respond the way the wiring says they should.

What we check and set up

Dual-fuel and propane systems need more than a default configuration. We set the thermostat for your equipment type, stage count and any auxiliary or emergency heat, then set the changeover behaviour so a propane furnace and a heat pump are not fighting each other. We watch a full call in heating and in cooling, check supply temperatures, look at airflow through the returns, and walk you through schedules, geofencing and the phone app before we leave. Vents open, filter clean, settings written down.

How we decide it is the right call

A smart thermostat is a good move when your system can use it and your wiring can support it. Single-stage gas heat with cooling is straightforward. Older farmhouse ductwork with two wires, a millivolt system, or line-voltage electric heat may need different hardware or a wiring change first, and we will say so rather than force it. If your comfort problem is really a duct or capacity issue, a new thermostat will not fix that, so we look at the whole system before recommending anything.

Smart Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Will a smart thermostat work with my propane furnace and heat pump?

Usually yes, as long as the thermostat supports dual-fuel changeover and auxiliary heat. Some models need an outdoor sensor or a separate module. We confirm compatibility with your specific equipment before installing anything.

My house only has two thermostat wires. Can you still install one?

Often, but it depends. Two-wire heat-only setups may need an added conductor, a power adapter or a different thermostat model. We check what is in the wall and give you the workable options.

Can I use my own thermostat that I already bought?

Yes. Bring it out and we will install and configure it. If it turns out not to match your system or wiring, we will explain why and suggest a model that will work.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail tells us what parts to bring along.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow and the equipment itself before we quote anything. If the problem sits in the ductwork rather than the unit, we say so plainly.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and explain

Most air conditioning repair and heating repair work finishes in one visit. We show you the failed part, explain what caused it, and tell you what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • Propane and dual fuelPlenty of homes in our service area run propane heat or a dual fuel setup with a heat pump. We know how those systems switch over and why a bad changeover setting can leave you cold and burning fuel.
  • Older houses, added ductworkFarmhouses often got ducts decades after they were built, run through crawl spaces and attics. When the equipment tests fine but rooms still fight each other, we look at the duct runs and static pressure.
  • Repair before replacementA failed capacitor, a cracked wire, a clogged drain or a bad control board is a repair, not a new system. We tell you when the equipment is genuinely finished and when it is not.
  • Plain talk on the phoneWe ask what the thermostat reads, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and when it last worked normally. That two minute conversation often shortens the visit and keeps the repair cost down.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
