Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across central Kentucky and the Bluegrass

Ductwork Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair, seal and replace residential ductwork across Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia, so call us if some rooms never get comfortable while others do. Ducts fail in ordinary ways. Old tape lets go at the joints, flex runs sag and kink in a crawlspace, boots pull away from the floor register, and insulation falls off in an unconditioned attic. On a visit we look at the whole path from the equipment to the farthest register, check static pressure and airflow at the supply and return, and find where conditioned air is leaking into space you do not live in. Then we show you what we found and give you the options, from sealing joints to replacing a bad run. Call or book online and we will schedule a look.

Ductwork Repair — residential ductwork being serviced

The ductwork symptoms we hear most

  • One bedroom is always ten degrees off from the rest of the house Disconnected or crushed duct run, undersized branch, closed damper
  • The system runs and runs but the house never catches up Major supply leakage into attic or crawlspace, high duct loss
  • Filters load up with dust within weeks Return-side leaks pulling dirty air from unconditioned space
  • I hear a whoosh or rumble under the floor when it starts Loose joints, undersized return, panned floor cavity leakage
  • The upstairs is stuffy and smells like the crawlspace Return leaks and pressure imbalance drawing in outside air

People call this ductwork repair, air duct repair or duct sealing. Same visit, same written quote, same technician.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
  • 2Change or check the filter; a loaded filter starves airflow and mimics duct problems.
  • 3Check the thermostat setting and mode, and swap the batteries if the screen is dim or blank.
  • 4Clear leaves, grass clippings and stacked items away from the outdoor unit so it can breathe.

Ductwork Repair — quick answers

How do you find a duct leak?

We start with a visual walk of every accessible run in the attic, crawlspace or basement, then measure airflow and static pressure at the equipment and registers. That tells us whether the loss is one bad connection or leakage spread across the whole system.

Is sealing enough, or do I need new ductwork?

Sealing works when the duct sizing and layout are sound and the losses are at joints, boots and seams. We recommend replacement when runs are crushed, badly undersized, full of failing insulation or torn up by years of crawlspace traffic.

Why are my ducts sweating in summer?

Bare or thinly insulated duct in a humid attic or crawlspace lets warm moist air hit a cold surface, and you get condensation and sometimes stains on the ceiling. We repair the insulation and vapor barrier and address the moisture source.

Does duct tape work for repairs?

Cloth duct tape dries out and lets go, which is why we find so many open joints held together by old tape. We use mastic and foil tape rated for the job, with mechanical fasteners where the connection carries weight.

Can duct work fix a room that was added later?

Often yes. Additions and finished attics are frequently fed by a branch tapped off an existing trunk that never had capacity for it. We measure what that room needs and size a proper run, or look at a separate zone if the layout will not allow it.

How long does a ductwork repair take?

Sealing accessible joints and repairing a few bad connections is usually a one-day visit. A full replacement in a house with tight crawlspace access can run several days, and we will give you a timeline after we have seen the system.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. That detail tells us what parts to bring along.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow and the equipment itself before we quote anything. If the problem sits in the ductwork rather than the unit, we say so plainly.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and explain

Most air conditioning repair and heating repair work finishes in one visit. We show you the failed part, explain what caused it, and tell you what to watch for next season.

Why homeowners call us

  • Propane and dual fuelPlenty of homes in our service area run propane heat or a dual fuel setup with a heat pump. We know how those systems switch over and why a bad changeover setting can leave you cold and burning fuel.
  • Older houses, added ductworkFarmhouses often got ducts decades after they were built, run through crawl spaces and attics. When the equipment tests fine but rooms still fight each other, we look at the duct runs and static pressure.
  • Repair before replacementA failed capacitor, a cracked wire, a clogged drain or a bad control board is a repair, not a new system. We tell you when the equipment is genuinely finished and when it is not.
  • Plain talk on the phoneWe ask what the thermostat reads, whether the outdoor unit is spinning, and when it last worked normally. That two minute conversation often shortens the visit and keeps the repair cost down.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
